It’s a four day weekend and the current heat wave is an excellent excuse for a scary movie night. Below are the ten best horror movies for a Fourth of July movie marathon.

10. Jaws (1975)
The original fourth of July horror movie! Jaws is the perfect movie to start your Independance Day horror movie marathon.

9. Dark Skies (2013)
Taking place before, during and after fourth of July- this alien movie will suck you in. The family spends July 4th boarding up the windows of the house, then eat dinner and reminisce about happier times.

8. Silver Bullet (1985)
In a small town, brutal killings start to plague the close knit community around Fourth of July. Marty Coslaw, a paraplegic boy, is convinced the murders are the doings of a werewolf.

7. Final Destination 3
This one makes the list for it’s gory fireworks death scene! The third installment in the series, it’s a good watch and reminder about firework safety.

6. You are not alone (2014)
Natalie is a college graduate visiting her hometown over the 4th of July. The night she arrives, she is stalked by a sociopathic killer.

5. The Evil in Us
While on a fourth of July holiday, six best friends fall victim to the insidious plan of a mysterious organization when they are unknowingly transformed into bloodthirsty cannibals.

4. Return of the Living Dead (1985)
When two bumbling employees at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gas into the air, the vapors cause the dead to rise again as zombies on the 4th of July.

3. Uncle Sam (1996)
Desert Storm vet who was killed in combat rises from the grave on July Fourth, to kill the unpatriotic citizens of his hometown, after some teens burn an American flag over his burial site.

2. Independance Say (1996)
The aliens are coming and their goal is to invade and destroy Earth. Fighting superior technology, mankind’s best weapon is the will to survive.

    On the Fourth of July 1996 in Southport, North Carolina, Julie James and her friends Ray Bronson, Helen Shivers and Barry Cox drive to the beach. While driving along a coastal byway, they accidentally hit a pedestrian. Each film takes place on 4th of July and makes for a fun annual trilogy.
